Erika Nelson, MA, LPCCErika Nelson earned their undergraduate degree in psychology from Wartburg College located in Iowa. After moving back to Minnesota, Erika worked for five years with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders in various settings, including in-home, center-based, and a specialty school. While completing a master’s degree in counseling psychology from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, she gained experience in a partial hospitalization level of care, specific to kids and families struggling with anxiety and OCD. Erika also has experience and enjoys working with individuals and groups in the LGBTQ+ community.
Erika strives to create a calm and welcoming environment, giving clients the space to feel heard and understood. She values building a connection and meeting clients where they are. Erika uses evidence-based therapeutic approaches in their therapy practice to include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and exposure and response prevention (ERP). Erika has a passion for teaching awareness and skills around mental health to foster confidence and independence. Erika grew up in Iowa and currently resides in Minneapolis with her wife and rescue pit bulls. Erika makes it a priority to spend time with family, usually out on the lake or playing in the snow, as well as supporting local/lesser-known musicians, drinking quality coffee, and attending local events. |
